Wave of violence spread across Iraq

Thursday was one of the bloodiest days since mid-December, when the US withdrew most of its troops from Iraq. Numerous car bombs and roadside bombs exploded and there were also shootings and grenade attacks, Info Press reported.

Attacks were also carried out in several neighborhoods in Baghdad and the provinces of Kirkuk, Diyala, Nineveh, Saladin and Babil. In Baghdad, reports say at least 32 people have been killed.

A gathering of police patrols at the Sarafiyah bridge in the north of Baghdad was targeted by unknown armed men, who killed six policemen, and injured three more.

The deadly violence comes weeks before an Arab League summit scheduled to be held in Iraq at the end of March.
