At least eight Afghan civilians have been killed by a NATO airstrike in southern Afghanistan, Info Press reports.
A local official said that an imam, his wife and their six children were killed in the attack that took place in Helmand province’s Nad Ali district.
The attack is the latest in a wave of assaults by foreign invaders and their puppet Afghan forces against civilians in the war-torn country.
Afghan civilians have paid a high price since the US-led invasion of the country in 2001.
Some reports even suggest that the US-led invaders and their puppet allies had forced civilians to march ahead of soldiers on roads where the Mujahideen were believed to have planted bombs and landmines.
In 2001, the US invaded Afghanistan to topple the sovereign government of the Taliban. Since then, thousands of civilians have been killed, injured or forced to live as refugees in other countries due to insecurity and poverty.
